Teejuht fantaasiakirjanduse klassikasse

Leiate siit. Mitut pildil olevat raamatut lugenud olete? Mina sain ainult kümmekond kokku. Palju toredat lugemist veel ees :)

Martin Millar "Curse of the wolf girl"

Lõpetasin Millari libahundisarja teise osa ja olen veelgi veendunum fänn kui esimese osa lõpus. Raamatutest on pikemalt juttu siin, tahtsin aga teiega jagada mõndasid mulle rõõmu valmistanud lõike:
Daniel and Kalix were watching cartoons when Vex appeared in the room wearing an unusually large scarf and holding a comic.
"Hey, look what I just found in Daniel's room!"
Daniel looked up sharply, thought it meant missing the denouement of the cartoon. "Have you been in my room?"
"That's what I just said."
"Why?"
"I was looking through your stuff."
"Why were you doing that?"
"I wanted to see what sort of stuff you had, " replied Vex, logically.

Libahunt Dominil sätib end välja kiirele libahundiküttide-jahtimise tretile:
She paused at the door, wondering if she should take a book with her. She wasn't likely to find herself in a situation where she needed something to read, but long habit made her feel uncomfortable leaving the house without a book. She tucked a copy of Xenophon's Expedition to Persia in her pocket before setting off.

Daniel ja Moonglow arutavad murelikult Kalixi söömisharjumisi:
"I just hate it that she never eats," said Moonglow.
Daniel, who only moments ago had been planning on retreating upstairs, immediately saw an excellent opportunity to compliment Moonglow.
"You're right. Kalix is far too skinny. Not like you."
Moonglow's head turned, rather sharply. "What do you mean?"
"You're not nearly as skinny as her."
"Do you think I'm overweight?"
"Well, compared to Kalix..." began Daniel, then hesitated, not liking the way this was going. He tried to reformulate his sentence. "You've got a very nice figure."
"What, for someone who's really fat compared to Kalix?"
"Who said anything about you being fat? I never mentioned anything about being fat." Daniel attempted to protest his innocence but was interrupted by the arrival of Kalix, who seemed to have heard part of the conversation.
"Were you talking about me?" she demanded. "Were you calling me fat?" Kalix looked accusingly at Moonglow. "It's your fault. You keep making me eat."
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do. You probably bribed Decembrius to make me eat. And now you're talking about how fat I am."
"No one called you fat," cried Daniel. "I was talking about Moonglow!"

Vex ja Daniel arutavad Danieli taktikat Moonglow südame võitmiseks:
Vex laughed, and poured more cereal into her bowl, again covering it with sugar. "Well, there's your problem. You've been trying to win over a girl by being in a continual bad mood. Doomed to failure. Cosmo Junior says you can take the moody thing too far. Try cheering up a bit. And buy her something nice."
"What? Like flowers?"
"Flowers? Seems like an odd choice," said Vex. "I was thinking more along the lines of a hedgehog. But something nice anyway."

Trudi Canavan "Ambassador's Mission"

"It's a black magician's knife. Ashaki Tariko is a black magician. For a moment he felt a rush of fear that was strangely exhilarating, but it faded as quickly and left behind a disappointing cynicism. Yeah, and so is your mother, he found himself thinking, and suddenly he knew that living in the land of black magicians wasn't going to be as thrilling and novel as he'd thought it would be."
...
Kas nüüd on aeg hakata veidike tiibu sirutama?
